Just energy transitions do not happen on their own. The world’s energy systems were conceived around fossil fuels, and moving towards a new model requires transforming regulations, updating planning and changing operational practices. At Ivy, we are working to make this transformation possible, sustainable and fair in the countries of the Global South. <\/p>

Inspired by the Uruguayan model – an exceptional case of renewable integration based on innovative policies and evidence-informed decisions – we promote processes that accelerate the adoption of clean energy and allow us to build more resilient, competitive electricity systems that are prepared for the climate challenges of the 21st century.<\/p>

The Ivy Energy Program accompanies governments, institutions and sector actors in the creation of ecosystems, capacities and public frameworks that enable a sustained and long-term energy transition. Our work is progressively expanding to more countries in the Global South, building on the accumulated knowledge and lessons from our previous interventions. <\/p>

In the Energy Program, we seek to accelerate just energy transitions in the countries of the Global South by strengthening local enabling ecosystems that increase the participation of renewable energies. To this end, we support the development of public policies, planning processes and market models that ensure a sustainable transition, taking as a reference the success of Uruguay’s innovative energy model. <\/strong><\/p>

What do we do?<\/strong><\/p>

Analysis tools for policy and planning<\/b><\/p>

We develop advanced energy system models – including SimSEE – to support evidence-based decisions, long-term planning and the design of modern market instruments.<\/p>

Data analysis for decision making<\/b><\/p>

We use technical studies and optimization models to guide renewable integration, system expansion and coal phase-out, ensuring reliability and robustness.<\/p>

Knowledge products for public policy<\/b><\/p>

We produce publications, presentations and working papers that inform national and local policymaking and strengthen public debate.<\/p>

Knowledge management and organizational change<\/b><\/p>

We share best practices and successful experiences in the region to drive the transformation of the sector.<\/p>

Design of financing policies and instruments<\/b><\/p>

We support governments in the creation of regulatory frameworks, financial mechanisms and market models that enable the growth of renewable energies.<\/p>

Cultural change and new narratives<\/b><\/p>

We drive narratives that highlight the economic, social and environmental benefits of the energy transition, strengthening public and political support.<\/p>

Technology transfer and capacity building<\/b><\/p>

We conduct courses, workshops and dialogue spaces to ensure that local institutions and actors have the necessary capacities to lead and sustain the energy transition.<\/p>

Our Intervention Methodology<\/strong><\/p>

At Ivy, we apply a five-phase intervention methodology that combines structure, evidence and collaborative work. This approach allows us to adapt each project to the real needs of the countries and ensure sustainable results over time.<\/b> <\/p>

  1. Case definition<\/b><\/li><\/ol>

    We work together with the beneficiaries to identify the challenge, define the scope and agree on strategic objectives. This stage ensures that the intervention responds to real priorities and generates value from the outset. <\/p>

    1. Diagnosis and contextual analysis<\/b><\/li><\/ol>

      We conduct in-depth assessments that integrate data, technical modeling and territorial understanding. This diagnosis allows us to identify barriers, risks and opportunities, and establishes the analytical basis for the following phases. <\/p>

      1. Design of the action plan<\/b><\/li><\/ol>

        We co-create a roadmap adapted to the local context, incorporating technical, strategic and regulatory solutions. This planning is built collaboratively with local partners and key institutions. <\/p>

        1. Implementation and support<\/b><\/li><\/ol>

          We accompany the execution of the plan by working closely with stakeholders in the territory, adjusting measures and strategies as the process evolves. Our approach is adaptive and results-oriented. <\/p>

          1. Follow-up and monitoring<\/b><\/li><\/ol>

            We establish mechanisms for continuous learning, impact evaluation and continuous improvement.
