Ivy Foundation

Ivy Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to driving climate action and promoting transitions to sustainable, low-carbon economies in the Global South. We work to accelerate the adoption of new models of sustainable development for the 21st century and contribute to the global transformation demanded by the climate crisis.

We are convinced that the future is built by integrating evidence, data and advanced analysis into every decision related to climate action. We combine technical rigor, innovation and a comprehensive vision of sustainable development to drive concrete and lasting change.

We support the energy transition in Colombia by providing rigorous analysis and data to guide strategic decisions for the future of the electricity system. Our studies show that Colombia can operate reliably with a renewable share of more than 92%, provided that adequate planning, flexibility and system management measures are adopted. The proposal developed by IVY defines an optimal trajectory towards 2038 based on advanced technical assessments that integrate climate uncertainty scenarios, operational requirements and stability criteria. The soundness of the work and the legitimacy of its conclusions are strengthened by the collaboration and collaborative work with local partners and sector authorities.

In Mexico, we work in support of the Ministry of Energy (SENER), in agreement with local partners, to strengthen energy sector planning capabilities and provide analytical tools for evidence-based decision making. Our work includes the development of advanced models that demonstrate the technical feasibility and economic desirability of a greater share of renewable energy in the country’s energy matrix. This collaboration seeks to expand the availability of information, improve planning processes and contribute to the design of an energy system that is more competitive, resilient and compatible with the climate challenges of the 21st century.
